update on my life
hey what's up.
I finally have no homework and some time to write another blog so here we go.
I don't even know if ya'll care or wanted another one but here we are..
I'm sitting in my dorm bed, ten feet above the ground, sippin' on hot chocolate with toothpaste on my zits(the stress of college lol). I can't say I have the most adventurous life, but having a day to sit in bed with hot chocolate and chill for a few hours will always be one of my fav things in life.
I'm finishing up my first semester of college and boy did it go by so quickly. So much growing and learning has taken place since it started and let me tell ya, IT HAS BEEN SO GOOD FOR ME.
If you're reading this and wondering if you should go away to college, or even go to college, THIS IS YOUR SIGN!!! It's amazing and you meet so many people and have so many experiences that you wouldn't have if you didn't leave your hometown bubble.
I go to a baptist school so that means I have Jesus around me 25/8. From chapel three times a week, to bible classes, bible studies, sunday church, and even The Porch on tuesday nights.. I've gotten a lot of Jesus spoken into me the past 3 months and it really has been so beneficial. It's grown my prayer life, my quiet times, and even my relationships that just continue to pursue The Lord together. I thought before coming to college that my spiritual life was on track and stronger than ever. But then you come here and you meet people who are even farther on their spiritual walk then you are and it really humbles you. I'm thankful for all the people I've met who have done nothing but shown me Jesus and asked me about my faith. You know who you are.
I'm not saying that I'm perfect now. I still catch myself sinning daily. I talk about people without realizing it, I speak to my parents in tones that I shouldn't, and my actions aren't always christ-like. But that's the beauty of following Christ. He forgives me!!! and every day is a new day to start over. My daily prayer is for those three things I just listed, and the more I pray about them and work on them, the more I find my self doing them less often. I can't stress enough to ya'll what spending time with the Lord does for you.
In high school I had my little devotional that I would read every morning and then journal about after I read it. I thought it was enough and then once I got to college and got to sit down with older girls who know scripture like no other, I was able to see that I needed to actually be reading scripture daily. I started practicing this by just starting a brand new chapter and reading it while making notes as I went along. I realized that as I was doing it I was able to get what I needed out of the text, not just what my devotional got out of it. Being able to break it down and really think about what it means to you changes everything. Now I can spend hours in my bible, reading and thinking about what it means, and not even realize how long I've spent doing it.
If you're unable to find the motivation to read your bible every day you really should try this and I promise you it will change your quiet time tremendously. I wish I would of started this a lot earlier in my walk with Christ.
Idk if this was beneficial to y'all or if anyone is even still reading. I'm sorry if it was boring. My life is boring and this is about all that is happening in it as of now, but I think it's something pretty awesome and worth sharing.
